Responsibilities
- Practice medicine under the supervision of a physician using sound medical judgment and adhering to all ethical considerations of the practice of medicine;
- Keep abreast of current technologies and industry standards;
- Provide care for patients with acute and chronic illness encountered in the older adult patient;
- Under the supervision of a physician, accountable for patient care and outcomes and will appropriately seek consultation from specialists when needed, though will stay involved in, and be responsible for, the detailed care of the patient;
- Engage with hospitalists whenever a patient is in the hospital;
- Meet all clinical obligations of the medical practice: Accrediting Agency compliance, CLIA compliance, drug prescription compliance, HIPAA, State and Federal regulations, Safety Regulations, etc.
Requirements/Skills
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;
- Certified as a nurse practitioner with current state licensure;
- At least 1 year of previous professional nursing experience with 1-3 years experience as a practicing as a primary care nurse practitioner;
- Prior experience working in an electronic medical records system;
- Skilled in traditional nursing disciplines of patient assessment and management;
- ACLS/BLS certification required as mandated by state;
- Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care;
- Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively;
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;
- Excellent written and verbal communication, teaching ability, and good telephone skills;
- Working knowledge with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration;
- Full range of body motion, including handling and transferring patients, manual and finger dexterity; including eye-hand coordination;
- Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching at arm’s length and overhead in a clinic for prolonged periods of time;
- Must be able to lift and move patients and medical equipment as needed;
- Requires ability to lift/carry up to 15 lbs;
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range;
- Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time;
- Operate a motor vehicle and have own means of transportation;
- Diagnose and manage chronic diseases, such as Diabetes, Atherosclerotic Disease, COPD, CHF, Obesity, etc in the senior population.
