About the Role

At VIPcare, we specialize in primary care for patients 65+ with a mission to provide 5-star service that always puts patient care and outcomes first. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), you will provide exceptional medical care by conducting physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing patient treatment plans under the supervision of a physician. This is a safety-sensitive position involving direct patient care and administering medication.

Responsibilities

  • Practice medicine under the supervision of a physician, adhering to ethical standards and staying current with industry technologies and best practices.
  • Provide care for older adult patients with acute and chronic illnesses, ensuring accountability for patient outcomes and seeking specialist consultation when needed.
  • Collaborate with hospitalists when patients are hospitalized.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies, CLIA, drug prescription regulations, HIPAA, state and federal laws, and safety regulations.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with acute and complex chronic health needs using evidence-based medicine and practice guidelines.
  • Follow all internal policies and procedures to ensure appropriate clinical processing and documentation.
  • Maintain complete and detailed electronic medical records (EMR) within 48 hours of each patient visit.
  • Educate patients on health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention or management.
  • Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic data to develop appropriate diagnoses.
  • Interpret diagnostic results (e.g., blood gases, radiology, EKG) in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Exhibit compassionate, high-quality, and conscientious behavior while building effective relationships with patients, families, and team members.
  • Document continuing education to meet licensure and certification requirements.
  • Ensure patients are seen by a physician every other visit.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy and HIPAA requirements.
  • Follow the proper chain of command for addressing patient complaints.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Certified as a nurse practitioner with current state licensure.
  • At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, with 1-3 years of experience as a primary care nurse practitioner.
  • Prior experience working with an electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • ACLS/BLS certification as mandated by state regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate patient care rationale and ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including teaching ability and effective telephone communication.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration.

Physical Requirements

  • Full range of body motion, including handling and transferring patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching at arm’s length and overhead for prolonged periods in a clinic setting.
  • Ability to lift and move patients and medical equipment, with the capacity to lift/carry up to 15 lbs.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle with own means of transportation.
