About the Role

As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at VIPcare, you will provide exceptional medical care to patients 65+ by conducting physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing patient treatment plans under the supervision of a physician. This is a safety-sensitive position involving direct patient care and medication administration. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver quality care and support team functions.

Responsibilities

  • Practice medicine under physician supervision, adhering to ethical standards and staying current with industry technologies and best practices.
  • Provide care for older adult patients with acute and chronic illnesses, seeking specialist consultation when needed while remaining responsible for detailed patient care.
  • Engage with hospitalists when patients are hospitalized.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies, CLIA, drug prescription regulations, HIPAA, state/federal laws, and safety regulations.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with acute and complex chronic conditions using evidence-based medicine and practice guidelines.
  • Follow internal policies and procedures to complete operational tasks per departmental guidelines.
  • Maintain complete and detailed electronic medical records (EMR) within 48 hours of each patient visit.
  • Educate patients on health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention/management.
  • Analyze patient histories, symptoms, and diagnostic findings to develop appropriate diagnoses.
  • Interpret diagnostic results (e.g., blood gases, radiology, EKG) in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Exhibit compassionate, high-quality, and conscientious behavior while building effective relationships with patients, families, and team members.
  • Document continuing education to meet licensure and certification requirements.
  • Ensure patients are seen by a physician every other visit.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per policy and HIPAA requirements.
  • Follow the proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Certified as a nurse practitioner with current state licensure.
  • At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, with 1–3 years as a primary care nurse practitioner.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • ACLS/BLS certification as mandated by state.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate patient care rationale and ability to handle emergencies calmly.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, teaching, and telephone skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration.

Physical Requirements

  • Full range of body motion, including handling/transferring patients, manual/finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to stand, walk, push, bend, kneel, and reach for prolonged periods in a clinic setting.
  • Capability to lift and move patients and medical equipment (up to 15 lbs).
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Must have own means of transportation and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
