Vice President- Operations
About the role
The Vice President of Operations leads and coordinates all operational, manufacturing, and supply chain functions for the Airgas USA, LLC - NCN Region (Northern CA, Northern NV).
Responsibilities
- Strategic Agility & Pivot Execution: Formulate and advance regional operational strategies that align with corporate growth goals. Demonstrate high agility by swiftly translating executive directives and leading critical operational pivots to capture market opportunities or mitigate risks.
- Operational Integration: Translate long-term corporate vision into actionable regional initiatives, establishing clear KPIs and milestones to ensure successful realization across all multi-site facilities.
- Cultivate Exceptional Safety Standards: Lead by example to embed a proactive safety culture across all facilities. Ensure adherence to PPE standards, health policies, and regional safety metrics.
- Regulatory & SOP Excellence: Partner with safety teams to audit and maintain compliance frameworks aligning with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA, state regulations, and corporate SOPs.
- Operational Standardization: Continuous refinement of standard operating procedures to optimize compliance, minimize risk, and adapt to evolving industry standards.
- Cultivate High-Performance Culture: Cultivate an environment of deep dedication, collaboration, and high employee engagement to consistently advance performance goals.
- Talent Pipeline & Succession: Partner with HR on workforce planning, targeted hiring, comprehensive training initiatives, and robust succession planning via executive coaching and mentorship.
- CapEx & Financial Management: Formulate strategic capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets and responsibly manage approved capital investments to maximize asset value and regional ROI.
- Efficiency & Reliability Optimization: Foster lean performance to reduce waste and control costs across fill plants and distribution networks, while eliminating operational bottlenecks to maximize plant uptime through clear, data-driven technical leadership.
- Supply Chain, Quality & Customer Experience: Lead all facets of the Gases Supply Chain, strategically coordinating distribution to plants and end-users. Enforce rigorous quality and delivery standards to ensure excellent order accuracy, product quality, and seamless fulfillment, while ensuring consistent satisfaction for both internal stakeholders and external commercial customers.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in the bulk and packaged gas industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a production environment within a chemical, gas, or related industry.
- Experience with SAP or a similar enterprise software system.
- Intermediate proficiency operating within a Google Workspace environment is preferred.
- Experience being entrusted with capital expenditure budgets, alongside coordinating capital allocations and applying standard financial principles.
- Experience navigating and building alignment within union agreements, labor relations, and employment matters is preferred.
- A strong familiarity or a deep understanding of the following areas: compliance with federal/state regulations, OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA, truck and trailer loading limits, cylinder markings, test dates, pressure ratings, ICC markings, placarding, hazardous material classifications, DOT driver qualifications and record keeping, vehicle purchasing and maintenance requirements, accident reporting, and overall safety and compliance.
- Experience utilizing Lean Six Sigma data-driven, fact-based methodologies to champion continuous improvement.

Pay
$145,000- $160,000 with 25% bonus and auto allowance.
