Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure nursing practices support person-centered care, health and wellness, and quality outcomes for individuals served.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and other clinical personnel.
  • Establish and maintain nursing standards, policies, procedures, and clinical protocols in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain continuity of nursing services by providing direct clinical support and hands-on nursing coverage as needed during staffing shortages, vacancies, emergencies, or the absence of assigned nursing personnel.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including requirements of Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, Office of Mental Health, and other oversight agencies.
  • Oversee the agency’s AMAP training program, including staff education, certification, recertification, competency assessments, and compliance monitoring to maintain regulatory standards and support quality care.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of nursing documentation, assessments, care plans, and health records.
  • Provide clinical consultation and nursing support to Adult Mental Health Residences and Education programs as needed, ensuring the delivery of quality care, clinical best practices, regulatory compliance, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatry, primary care providers, behavioral health professionals, and program leadership.
  • Assist with development of clinical interventions and support strategies for individuals with complex medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the implementation and optimization of the electronic medical record (EMR) system, including oversight of the transition from paper documentation, workflow redesign, staff education, compliance monitoring, and continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, program development, and service enhancement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, investigations, and regulatory reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in developmental disabilities, behavioral health, residential services, or community-based healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of OPWDD, OMH, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, staff development, and operational management experience.
  • Experience leading multi-site clinical operations.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and risk management practices.
  • Experience working within interdisciplinary service models supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Electronic Medical Record systems, including implementation, clinical documentation oversight, staff training, and workflow improvement
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interact and complete assignments in a manner sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Qualifications

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May be required to lift up to 25 pounds or more.
  • Required to commute to other agency locations as needed.
