Vice President, Institutional Client Group, Fintech Coverage
About the role
As a key member of the team that manages global relationships with a group of North American Fintech companies—including Paytech, Market Structure Technology, Digital Banking, and Digital Assets & Currencies providers—you will drive business origination and retention while managing credit and financial crime risk for those clients. You will work closely with Regional Relationship Bankers and product partners (Transaction Banking, Securities Services, Capital Markets, Structured Finance, Global Markets, Asset Management) as well as colleagues in other divisions outside Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) to deliver HSBC’s products and services.
Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of clients’ business needs and identify solutions HSBC can deliver to meet their challenges and objectives.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure transactions balance risk, return, and profitability while complying with internal and external requirements.
- Develop and institutionalize effective relationships, including at the C-suite level, with key decision-makers at clients and internally within HSBC.
- Support the broader CIB coverage team in revenue generation, product alignment, client planning, client briefings, customer satisfaction, cost containment, and the development of junior staff.
- Leverage HSBC’s full range of product capabilities and international network to deliver solutions to clients.
Requirements
- University degree or advanced qualifications.
- Deep understanding of the Fintech and/or Financial Institutions sector, industry trends, and competitive dynamics.
- Extensive experience in capital markets, securities services, structured finance, transaction banking, and asset management.
- Proven achievement in client-facing roles with the ability to drive outcomes.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with strong ownership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify and execute attractive commercial opportunities.
- Strong relationship-building skills, exercising influence at senior levels both internally and externally.
- Strong track record of collaborating across teams to deliver results.
- Strong risk management and mitigation skills, including credit, financial crime, and operational risk.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses (a contingency period to obtain licensing may be provided at the manager’s discretion).
