About the role

Western Alliance Bank, Member FDIC, is seeking a Vice President, Commercial Banking to join our team in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop a target market for new business opportunities.
  • Negotiate, underwrite, and coordinate the closing of major and complex loans in compliance with Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain business checking and deposit relationships with customers.
  • Assist clients with deposit-related products and services and gather information to recommend appropriate deposit product solutions.
  • Compile and analyze market research data to develop recommendations regarding products and services focused on the target market.
  • Engage in business development activities and solicit new business based on the target market.
  • Collaborate with treasury partners to ensure seamless client experiences.
  • Call and visit target customers to promote and sell Bank products and services to establish a new book of business.
  • Develop and maintain customer databases including calls and results on all new business relationships.
  • Make reports to superiors as required.
  • Interview prospective applicants and request specified information related to loan or credit applications; correspond or re-interview applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Perform basic pre-qualification assessments and analyses of financial conditions and risks of financing requests within the Bank’s credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
  • Gather all necessary information to present financing requests to senior management or Loan Committee for approval; meet with new/potential customers; visit loan sites; negotiate loan terms and conditions; and recommend acceptance to the Chief Credit Officer or Loan Committee.
  • Coordinate the processing of approved loans; ensure loans are processed according to agreements, customer needs, and conform to Bank’s lending policies; obtain sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; and solve problems relative to loan processing and servicing within the Relationship Manager’s portfolio.
  • Maintain a superior knowledge of financial industry status and trends.
  • Recommend to senior management products and services experiencing less than satisfactory performance.
  • Represent the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business; assist the Bank in establishing and maintaining market position in the financing arena.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules, and regulations, industry standards, and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge in all facets of relationship management.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
  • May require up to 50% travel.

Pay

Salary range for new hires is generally $159,250.00 - $185,000.00 for San Jose, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location.

Schedule

The role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
