About the role
The Vice Chair of Anatomic Pathology leads three diagnostic sections within an academic Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, providing strategic oversight and fostering professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Anatomic Pathology Division and oversee diagnostic services in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and autopsy pathology.
- Partner across medical specialties to enhance patient care and diagnostic outcomes.
- Support and develop residency and fellowship training programs.
- Supervise and mentor faculty, encouraging research and academic advancement.
- Participate in medical student education and curriculum development.
- Drive pathology outreach initiatives and identify growth opportunities.
Key duties
- Provide leadership for diagnostic services, foster faculty development, promote research, and collaborate across specialties to improve diagnostic and patient care outcomes in a supportive, well‑funded academic setting.
Qualifications & Skills
- MD or MD/PhD with board certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or combined AP/CP.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and strategic planning abilities.
- Experience in an academic or clinical pathology environment preferred.
