Veterinary Technician- Surgery

Pay

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system. A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal.

Requirements

• Minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital
• Rotating on-call schedule required after training

Qualifications

• Ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein
• Able to count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort accurately
• Able to understand normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal
• Able to set up and administer intravenous fluids
• Able to operate and troubleshoot intravenous fluid pumps
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically
• Able to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload

Schedule

A rotating on-call schedule is required once training has been completed.
