About the role
As a teaching hospital, we offer the opportunity to work in an environment that cares for more than just dogs and cats. Our team treats exotic pets too, making every day a little different and giving our staff plenty of opportunities to keep learning.
- Greet clients and patients with warmth and professionalism
- Check clients and patients in and out while ensuring information is complete and accurate
- Answer and manage a multi-line phone system calmly and efficiently
- Schedule appointments and help maintain an organized hospital calendar
- Manage client and patient records accurately
- Process invoices and collect payments
- Communicate hospital information, policies, and next steps clearly to clients
- Respond to client questions with compassion and professionalism
- Coordinate with doctors, technicians, assistants, and fellow receptionists to support efficient patient flow
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
- Assist with administrative tasks and medical record requests as needed
- Jump in and help the team wherever needed to keep the day running smoothly
Requirements
- Previous veterinary experience is a plus
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- A warm, professional, and welcoming approach to client interactions
- Comfort managing multiple phone lines and competing priorities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
- Confidence working with computers and learning veterinary practice-management software
- Compassionate communication skills, especially during sensitive or emotional situations
- A collaborative, team-first mindset
- Reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to learn
