About the role

Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center is seeking an experienced OR Supervisor to lead their operating room and sterile processing functions in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily OR workflow, case preparation, and room readiness
  • Ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique and sterility protocols
  • Manage surgical instruments, equipment, and inventory, including implants and supplies
  • Cook with the sterile processing team and coordinate repairs
  • Aid surgeons during procedures and anticipate case needs
  • Ensure surgical teams meet table times and maintain efficient case flow
  • Maintain and troubleshoot OR equipment
  • Oversee patient preparation, surgical setup, and post-procedure readiness
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail across all surgical processes
  • Train and develop surgical technicians and assistants in OR protocols and best practices
  • Develop and maintain training materials, SOPs, and infection control protocols
  • Support onboarding and skill development of new team members
  • Partner with leadership to ensure consistent training and performance standards
  • Drive efficiency & compliance
  • Maintain sterilization processes and ensure all instruments meet compliance standards
  • Monitor inventory, sterilization cycles, and equipment maintenance logs
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, DEA, and hospital safety standards
  • Identify workflow improvements to enhance efficiency and patient care

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in a surgical or operating room environment (veterinary preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and sterilization processes
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and develop team members
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
