Veterinary Oncologist
About the role
Guardian Veterinary Specialists is a privately-owned, 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital located in upper Westchester County, NY. We are seeking a Board-Certified Oncologist to join our motivated team of specialists and veterinary support staff.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of cancers in dogs and cats, including but not limited to bladder cancer, brain tumors, fibrosarcoma, gastrointestinal cancers, hemangiosarcoma, hepatocellular cancer, leukemia, lung cancer, lymphoma, mammary cancer, mast cell tumors, melanoma, multiple myeloma, nasal tumors, nerve sheath cancer, oral tumors, osteosarcoma, squamous cell cancer, thyroid cancer, and urethral/bladder cancer.
- Offer the latest, most advanced chemotherapy protocols for dogs and cats.
- Perform molecular tumor profiling to tailor treatment to the client's genetic makeup.
- Administer a melanoma vaccine to help extend survival in dogs.
- Use interventional targeted endoscopy for treating solid cancers of the stomach, esophagus, and colon without conventional open surgery.
- Treat certain types of cancer with electrochemotherapy, a method that uses short, intense electrical pulses to open up cancer cells, allowing chemotherapy to target these cells instead of flooding the entire body.
- Participate in a clinical trial using electrogene transfer (EGT) as a new tool for cancer immunotherapy in animals.
- Offer a progressive new therapy for urethral/bladder cancer using a custom electrode that inserts like a urinary catheter.
Requirements
- Love of animals and a passion to help and heal, first and foremost.
- The desire to continually learn and grow.
- Board Certified or Board Certified Eligible in Oncology.
- Open to working overnights.

Pay
$X per hour or $Y per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
3 days on and 4 days off, with potential for flexible scheduling based on department needs.
