Veterinary Extern - General Practice

About the role

L Laurelwood Animal Hospital is a 5 ½ doctor practice with general practitioners, an internist on staff, and offers I-131 for cats. An externship here provides students with hands-on clinical experience and understanding of daily practice operations.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in gathering patient histories
• Perform physical exams
• Create treatment plans
• Diagnose and perform diagnostics
• Provide dental services
• Assist or perform surgical procedures under supervision
• Manage medical care for patients
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients

Qualifications

Eligible for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education. A travel/living expense stipend is available for those participating in the externship.

Benefits

Externships at Laurelwood Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks based on schedules. Students can earn a stipend for their participation.
