About the role
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the supervising Associate Veterinarians
- Gather patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Diagnose and perform diagnostics
- Provide dental services
- Assist or perform surgical procedures
- Manage medical care for patients
- Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Requirements
Students must be enrolled in a third or fourth year veterinary program.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to students who are actively involved in the clinical portion of their education.

Pay
Travel/living expense stipends are available for students in the clinical portion of their education.
Schedule
