Veterinary Emergency Service Head

About the role

The Emergency Service Head Veterinarian (ERSH) role at BluePearl Pet Hospital, Christiana in Newark, DE, is seeking a full-time veterinarian who will work alongside the ER Clinicians, Specialists, and Leadership Team to ensure the highest quality medicine and services for pets and our community.

Responsibilities

• Directly impact patient care through scheduling, hiring, and training decisions.
• Lead team meetings and represent the ER department in hospital leadership.
• Play a key role in ensuring high-quality patient care and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Requirements

• DVM from an accredited university required.
• Successful completion of rotating internship or the BluePearl’s EmERge program required.
• 2+ years of clinical experience required.
• Must possess valid applicable DVM licensure.
• Demonstrated capacity to multitask and successfully manage competing priorities required.
• Prior shift lead experience preferred.
• Strong leadership ability with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated stress tolerance and attention to detail.
• Strong ability to mentor and train less experienced Clinicians and Interns.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed veterinarian in good standing.
• Experience in emergency medicine and critical care is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Annual base salary up to $220,000, based upon level of experience.
