About the role

South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES) is seeking a full-time Clinical Nursing Manager to lead our Emergency and Specialty Services teams in Asheville, NC. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced Credentialed Veterinary Technician with a passion for mentorship, team development, operational excellence, and advancing high-quality specialty and emergency patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the Emergency and Specialty clinical teams while maintaining exceptional standards of patient care.
  • Partner with the Hospital Director and Medical Director to establish clinical goals, improve workflows, and support hospital initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and clinical leadership.
  • Promote a collaborative, positive culture centered on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement onboarding, training, and competency programs for clinical team members.
  • Create service-specific training plans and provide regular progress updates to hospital leadership.
  • Cook up and coordinate training sessions, educational materials, attendance records, and continuing education opportunities.
  • Conduct regular meetings focused on performance, employee development, morale, wellness, and professional growth.
  • Ensure all clinical team members receive the training and support needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Establish clear expectations and provide coaching, performance feedback, and accountability for clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and department leaders to address staffing needs, workflow challenges, and operational priorities.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, and career development while modeling Ethos Veterinary Health's core values.
  • Administer the Veterinary Student and Veterinary Technician externship program.
  • Serve as the primary contact for students and educational partners.
  • Coordinate schedules, department rotations, onboarding, and required documentation to ensure a successful externship experience.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and bi-weekly leadership meetings with the Hospital Director, Medical Director, and department leaders.
  • Support hospital-wide initiatives related to patient care, staffing, equipment, operations, and quality improvement.
  • Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT, or VTS) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience required; 2+ years preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and team development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to establish priorities and meet organizational goals.
  • Professional, positive, and collaborative leadership style.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Pay

$80,000–$85,000 annually based on experience

Full-Time
Monday–Friday
