Specialty Veterinary Clinical Manager

About the role

MedVet is a fast-growing Emergency and Specialty provider with practices nationwide. We help our patients receive advanced medical treatments and innovations such as chemotherapy and radiation, cardiac ablations, treatments for glaucoma, physical rehabilitation, dermatology, and more. We are looking for a collaborative and driven Specialty Veterinary Clinical Manager (Surgery, Medical Oncology, Radiology, Cardiology) to join our clinical team. This role reports directly to the Hospital Director and focuses on developing and maintaining a team of engaged and empowered members to provide exceptional service to our patients, clients, and referral partners.

The Clinical Manager works with the Hospital Director and Medical Director to promote a culture of collaboration, foster career development, and cultivate inclusivity. Through delivering optimal Employee Experiences and MedVet Experiences, the Clinical Manager contributes to healthy growth.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the department’s healthcare team has the resources and tools needed to deliver the MedVet Experience.
• Coach team members on process improvement fundamentals to ensure efficient and sustainable operations.
• Collaborate with other departments to align goals and workflows.
• Develop, monitor, and adjust schedules to maximize efficiency based on workflow.
• Make recommendations for the purchase of supplies and equipment in collaboration with service/department representatives.
• Manage and influence department financial decisions and health.
• Lead change in a rapidly growing organization while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
• Provide a comprehensive clinical onboarding training schedule for all team members.
• Deliver ongoing and continuous performance feedback, instruction, and follow-up as part of a healthy Employee Experience.
• Negotiate and mediate conflict in partnership with the HR Partner.
• Perform initial screening of client and referral partner concerns and collaborate with the hospital dyad to resolve them.
• Provide written performance feedback and a development plan annually for each team member.
• Attract and retain exceptional team members by offering an enriching Employee Experience with meaningful work, career growth, and professional development.
• Split time between clinical and administrative duties, with a minimum of 50% of time spent on administrative tasks (varies by hospital/department size, number of direct reports, and staffing needs).

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience in a management or leadership role.
• Experience in veterinary medicine is required.
• Associate degree or a combination of equivalent college-level courses and experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Capability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize duties and meet deadlines.
• Highly professional and able to work with people at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours in the hospital unless otherwise approved by the Hospital Director.
• Flexibility to meet department needs, including after-hours and weekend coverage.
