Veterans Home RN (PRN)
Responsibilities
The Veterans Home RN is an important and valuable member to the South Dakota Veterans Home by "taking care of America's Heroes" by providing professional nursing services that require the application of basic nursing principles, practices, and techniques that follow established healthcare procedures and standards.
Successful candidates work in a long-term care setting at the South Dakota State Veterans Home and operate in a patient care environment where the focus is on the healthcare of individuals.
Requirements
- Must be licensed and able to work as a registered nurse in South Dakota.
- Must have a Registered Nurse License and either an associate degree, bachelor degree, or 3-year diploma.
- New graduates welcome.
- All certificates and/or tests required for performance at this level must be obtained and/or completed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practices;
- Recent development in the field of professional nursing applicable to the area of assignment;
- Clinical procedures.
Skills
- Ability to keep records;
- Follow instructions;
- Operate a variety of medical equipment;
- Make reports on observations;
- Apply general nursing techniques and practices;
- Maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients;
- Communicate effectively;
- Deal effectively with patients and staff.
Pay and Benefits
Pay rate and classification level will be determined by combination of education and experience. Salary: $36.72 per hour, depending on experience. Plus $5.00 per hour shift pay for night shifts / $1.00 per hour shift pay for pm shift / plus $1.50 per hour weekend pay.
Schedule
This position is a flexible, part-time position.
