Veteran Disability Examination Physician/Clinician
About the Role
Providers perform non-treatment disability examinations for U.S. Veterans to support the VA claims process. This is not a traditional clinical care role—there is no prescribing, treatment planning, or follow‑up care required. Instead, providers focus on conducting structured assessments and documenting medical findings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct disability exams from your own office – Veterans are scheduled to come to you
- Review medical records and complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs)
- Provide medical opinions when requested and accompanied by a diagnosis, based on exam findings and documentation
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete reporting in accordance with VA guidelines
Compensation
Providers are compensated per disability examination performed – there is no daily minimum requirement. Flexible schedule & earning potential: earn up to $4,500+ per week with no cap on earnings while scheduling examinations around your existing clinic hours. General Medicine providers receive additional compensation for medical opinions that are requested and meet established criteria. Bonus opportunity: providers who complete required trainings within two weeks receive a $500 bonus after submitting their first 25 DBQs.
What to Expect
- No ongoing patient management or liability for care plans
- Predictable, appointment‑based schedule – you provide your monthly availability and appointments are scheduled for you accordingly
- Administrative and documentation‑focused work with established templates
- Comprehensive self‑paced training (approximately 15 hours) covering Veteran disability evaluation topics, including military culture, TBI examinations, trauma‑informed care, and environmental exposures
- Cases must be submitted within 48 hours of the examination
- Typical General Medical exams: 30‑60 minutes per claimant; Specialty Provider exams: 15‑45 minutes, depending on complexity
- Dedicated support hotlines available for administrative questions, including case submission
