Vascular Sonographer, Reg. PRN

About the Role

The Registered Vascular Sonographer performs non-invasive vascular procedures and prepares the daily workload. The role requires strong communication skills, computer proficiency, adherence to lab protocols, participation in quality assurance and research projects, and availability for after-hours emergency call.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-invasive vascular procedures, including:
  • Extracranial Cerebrovascular Duplex
  • Upper and Lower Extremity Venous Duplex
  • Upper and Lower Extremity Arterial Duplex
  • Lower Extremity Physiologic Arterial Study
  • Upper Extremity Physiologic Arterial Study (TOS, Cold)
  • Bypass Graft Surveillance
  • Dialysis Access Duplex Evaluation
  • Upper and Lower Extremity Vein Mapping
  • Abdominal Aorto-iliac Duplex
  • Mesenteric Duplex
  • Renal Duplex
  • Transcranial Doppler (non-imaging)
• Prepare daily workload and follow established lab protocols.
• Participate in quality assurance and ongoing research projects.
• Complete accurate measurements and procedure worksheets for physician interpretation.
• Assess the need for additional diagnostic information based on patient condition.
• Interact professionally with physicians, nursing units, and patients.
• Continuously increase knowledge in the sonographer’s specialty area, disease processes, and new procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan to meet age-specific patient needs.

Requirements

• Graduate of a CAAHEP or CMA-approved school of ultrasound or vascular technology education program (registry eligible by ARDMS).
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through ARDMS (preferred).
• Medical and/or hospital clinical experience.
• Basic computer experience (1–2 years work experience or college-level courses).
• ARDMS Registered (RVT) certification (required).
• BLS certification (required prior to unit assignment and maintained).

Schedule

PRN (as needed), temporary, standard hours.
