Location: Onsite 5 days a week in Dearborn, MI. W2 position.

About the role

V&V Tools Technician supporting the V&V Operational Support and Hardware Team within Ford’s EVDD (Electric Vehicle & Digital Design) organization. The role involves preparation, assembly, configuration, inventory, and distribution of developed test tools. These tools and systems are distributed globally to electrical engineering, verification, and testing teams across Ford, as well as external development partners. The position supports the development and testing of next-generation center-stack, cluster, connected and non-connected features, and display virtualization toolsets across numerous vehicle sub-system domains.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and prepare test environments for deployment, including:
    • Aluminum frame assembly
    • Harness installation
    • Module installation
    • Software installation
    • Testing & validation
  • Package and ship systems to Ford and non-Ford partners.
  • Track distribution using approved process/tools.
  • Maintain operation of tool systems, including:
    • Troubleshoot and repair tool systems
    • Monitor and maintain virtual service desk
    • Diagnose, update, and repair non-functional systems
    • Manage shipping of components to fabricators for upcoming system builds
  • Maintain inventory and organization of tools lab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, though applicable knowledge or experience may substitute for formal education.
  • 6 years of relevant experience.

Skills

  • Required:
    • Ability to manage priorities, risks, and issues as they arise
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a group
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Functional understanding of automotive electrical wiring and wiring schematics
  • Preferred:
    • 2+ years of experience in electrical harness design or fabrication
    • Prior automotive or IT support experience
    • Experience utilizing JIRA
  • Skills to be gained:
    • Product development V&V systems business acumen
    • Support for distribution of Ford’s future product offerings in leading-edge technology for in-vehicle connected features
    • Partnership in a high-growth area: in-vehicle infotainment feature development
