USGS Analysis of Evaporation Data from Lake Mead
Description
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling-basis.
Research Project
The USGS collects eddy covariance data to measure evaporation rates from Lake Mead, the nation's largest reservoir and a source of drinking water to millions of people. With the Colorado River basin currently in a prolonged drought, knowledge of the amount of water lost to evaporation will only become more important.
The Project Will Include:
- Use the Aquarius software package to process evaporation data.
- If in-person at the duty station, site visits, and learn equipment maintenance and data collection.
Learning Objectives
You will learn to use Aquarius, a commonly used software package for the analysis of time-series hydrologic data. You will also learn the basics of evaporation data collection and analysis, and will benefit from time spent in a professional environment.
