About the role
The Hydrological Sciences Laboratory at Goddard Space Flight Center seeks a post-doctoral candidate with expertise in remote sensing-based hydrological research, modeling, and applications. The ideal candidate will contribute to understanding, quantifying, and analyzing components of the hydrological cycle using innovative remote sensing and numerical modeling techniques.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the understanding, quantification, and analysis of components of the hydrological cycle, including soil moisture, snow, ground and surface waters, precipitation, evapotranspiration, and runoff.
- Incorporate remote sensing and numerical modeling techniques into prediction systems, decision support tools, and studies of land-atmosphere interactions.
- Develop and coordinate with ongoing and future NASA water-related space missions, working groups, and field campaigns.
- Collaborate with advisors and other researchers to advance the field of hydrology and Earth system science.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Earth Science, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Hydrometeorology, Hydroclimatology, or a related field.
- Experience in remote sensing, hydrologic modeling, and data assimilation.
- Knowledge of NASA Earth Science satellite missions and related research.
Qualifications
- Strong background in hydrology, hydrologic remote sensing, hydrometeorology, hydroclimatology, environmental science, and/or Earth system modeling.
- Experience with machine learning and data assimilation techniques.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
