About The Role

The role is a telecommuting position available anywhere within the United States, focusing on data-driven user experience design and product development. The successful candidate will assist in planning, collecting, and analyzing key data to uncover insights that inform design and product decisions. Collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and other design teams, you will contribute to the creation and enhancement of IT enterprise products and processes. Your responsibilities will include uncovering user needs, identifying friction points, and exploring opportunities through data analysis, usability testing, and user journey mapping. You will play a vital role in advocating for user-centric design principles, ensuring accessibility, and aligning with industry standards around security, costs, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Information Science, Media Studies, Interaction Design, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience designing user experiences for applications
  • Proficiency with high-fidelity prototyping tools, capable of creating complex, interactive prototypes that closely mimic final functionalities
  • Experience collaborating within agile development environments with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of interaction design principles and patterns, with the ability to solve complex design challenges
  • Experience working with and contributing to comprehensive design systems, ensuring consistency across products and platforms
  • Visual design experience involving color, typography, and layout for creating visually appealing user interfaces
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, screen reader technology, and designing inclusive interfaces
  • Able to interpret user behavior data and make evidence-based design decisions to improve KPIs
  • Familiarity with Agile principles, project management, and collaboration tools such as Jira
  • Experience in documenting design decisions and contributing to design system repositories
  • Experience with digital whiteboards and remote facilitation for user journey mapping and ideation
  • Experience with heuristic assessments, component library building, and designing for technical users and infrastructure projects
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Uncover user needs, pain points, and opportunities through data analysis and user research methods
  • Generate, prioritize, and share insights and user journey maps with cross-functional teams
  • Plan and produce key IT enterprise products and processes, understanding performance, resource, and capability limitations
  • Assist in planning, executing, and analyzing usability tests for Red Hat products, identifying gaps and opportunities
  • Utilize Agile methodologies and tools to manage projects and workflows effectively
  • Build and maintain relationships with engineering, product management, and design teams to ensure alignment
  • Advocate for user access and communicate directly with end users to gather feedback and understand their needs
  • Address technical issues and reported bugs to enhance product quality and user experience
  • Map end-to-end user journeys to identify areas for improvement and innovation
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards related to security, costs, and reporting to optimize user experience
  • Contribute to and evolve design systems by identifying gaps and proposing new components and patterns
  • Document design decisions and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams
  • Lead interactive sessions for ideation, problem-solving, and creative collaboration using digital tools
  • Perform heuristic evaluations of user interfaces, applying Nielsen Norman methodologies
  • Create highly graphical and non-linear user interface elements for complex applications
  • Contribute to open-source projects and design for technical environments such as CLI, GUI, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to diverse audiences, explaining design concepts and research findings clearly and effectively
