America's Heartland Packing is opening a 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield facility in early 2025, featuring a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure all assigned daily preventive maintenance (PM’s) are completed.
- Maintain production lines in good mechanical order.
- Aid other teams (Production, Quality) when needed.
- Setup, visually inspect, and test machinery and equipment; perform tear-down procedures.
- Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions; discuss variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problems or repair machines.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment; install new or repaired parts.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Repair and maintain the physical structures of the establishment.

Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to learn mechanical systems and food manufacturing processes.
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
- Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, scissor lift, or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and execute work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
- Read, write, and orally communicate in English; ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Preferred Qualifications
- Metal fabrication skills.
- 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years’ direct experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance.
- Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma, or associate degree from a technical maintenance or trade school.
- Previous management experience in a meat slaughter facility.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Demands

- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds utilizing the buddy system or specifically designed lifting devices.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
