About the Role

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of multiple facilities. An individual in this role will perform various tasks related to low voltage systems, including setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support. Additional job-related responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and configures various low voltage systems (e.g., security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video systems, network cabling).
  • Runs, terminates, and labels cables according to project requirements and industry standards.
  • Performs regular maintenance checks to ensure system functionality and reliability.
  • Identifies and resolves issues in low voltage systems promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Repairs faults or damages in systems, restoring them to optimal working condition.
  • Provides technical support and training to end users on operating and maintaining low voltage systems.
  • Addresses customer inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensures all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Follows all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Generates reports on system performance, issues resolved, and maintenance activities.
  • Evaluates existing systems to determine if upgrades or enhancements are needed.
  • Performs system upgrades to improve performance or comply with new standards.
  • Collaborates with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project completion.
  • Communicates effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Stays updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Leads and participates in teams by sharing resources, information, and tools.
  • Develops, communicates, and implements processes to meet business needs through collaboration with managers, coworkers, and customers.

Physical Requirements

  • Communicates effectively in person or via telecommunications equipment.
  • Enters and locates information on electronic devices.
  • Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying sizes and weights, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Moves up and down ladders and stairs.
  • Moves, lifts, carries, and places items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Observes associate, customer, or supplier behavior.
  • Reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Safely operates a motor vehicle and large power equipment.
  • Sits, stands, squats, kneels, or crawls for extended periods.
  • Visually inspects equipment and locates objects, often in small print.
  • Creates documents and reports using writing instruments or electronic devices.
  • Presents information to small or large groups and individuals.

Travel

Travel is necessary to perform essential functions of this position. This includes domestic travel to and from multiple facilities or work sites, which may require consecutive overnight stays. Extended travel (seven days or more) is not typically required except for management training or emergency situations.

Work Environment

  • Works in environments that may include narrow, confined spaces such as storage areas, closets, or stacks of merchandise/supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Prior work experience with knowledge of local electrical codes and standards.
  • Ability to successfully complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and obtain medical certification (if applicable).
  • Ability to read and speak English (as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations).
  • Option 1: 1 year’s experience in electrical, material handling equipment, or related technical trade.
  • Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training or certification in low voltage systems.
  • BICSI Installer Certification.
  • CompTIA certifications for networking (e.g., Network+).
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Axis, or Bosch systems).
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification/training.
  • NICET Level 1 & 2 Fire Alarm certification.
  • Experience using intermediate-level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00. The actual hourly rate will meet or exceed the minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may apply in specific circumstances, ranging from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour, based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed.
