(USA) Technician, Facility Services, Low Voltage
About the role
This position assists in the operation of multiple facilities. Essential functions include setting up and configuring various low voltage systems, running, terminating, and labeling cables, performing maintenance checks, resolving issues, fixing faults, providing technical support, training end users, addressing customer inquiries, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining records, evaluating systems, upgrading systems, and communicating with clients.
Responsibilities
- Set up and configure low voltage systems (security, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video, network cabling)
- Run, terminate, and label cables according to project requirements and industry standards
- Perform regular maintenance checks to ensure system functionality and reliability
- Identify and resolve issues promptly to minimize downtimes
- Fix faults and restore systems to optimal working condition
- Provide technical support and training to end users
- Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently
- Ensure installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations
- Follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs
- Generate reports on system performance, issues resolved, and maintenance activities
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend upgrades or enhancements
- Perform system upgrades to improve performance or comply with new standards
- Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand needs and provide appropriate solutions
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Lead and participate in teams by sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved; and modeling and helping others adapt to change or new challenges

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report
- Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five (5) years
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations within the last three (3) years
- Commercial driving record with no preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle within the last three (3) years
- Commercial driving record with no serious traffic violations, as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, within the last three (3) years
- Ability to successfully complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and obtain medical certification valid for at least one (1) year
- Option 1: 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related technical trade
- Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience
Qualifications
- Training or certification in low voltage systems
- BICSI Installer Certification
- CompTIA certifications for networking (Network+)
- Manufacturer-specific certifications (Honeywell, Axis, Bosch systems)
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification/training
- NICET Level 1 or 2 Fire Alarm Certification
Skills
- Knowledge of local electrical codes and standards
- Intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Technical training or certification in low voltage systems

Pay
The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00*
Schedule
Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites requiring consecutive overnight stays. Works or trains at multiple facilities or distant locations. (Travel of extended duration, meaning seven days or more, is not required, except for management training and emergency situations.)
