About the role

Develops, communicates, and leverages a strategic vision aligned with company, market, and local plans and tactics to direct the management team and associates in facility operations, merchandising, and company direction. Provides supervision and development opportunities for management and hourly associates in a facility that may present issues such as high turnover, significant engagement issues, inexperienced associates, and recruiting challenges in an experienced, highly competitive market requiring ongoing and proactive recruitment, hiring, training, mentoring, succession planning, duty assignment, performance evaluation, recognition, and belonging mindset across multiple levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds the company’s Open Door Policy in a dynamic, multifaceted environment by meeting with associates, listening to concerns, researching issues, leveraging necessary resources, reviewing policies and procedures, teaching and driving consistency in responsiveness and resolution, and providing resolution including proactively seeking associate comments and concerns in work areas.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures by anticipating and proactively responding to challenging compliance issues, navigating environments with high levels of necessary controls, developing and maintaining relationships with federal, state, and local officials, holding hourly associates and managers accountable, analyzing and interpreting reports, implementing and monitoring asset protection and safety controls, maintaining quality assurance standards, overseeing safety and operational reviews, developing and implementing action plans to correct deficiencies, and providing direction on executing company programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Initiates, directs, and participates in community outreach programs in a high-visibility, potentially high-profile environment with significant media attention, requiring ongoing engagement and high interface with the community and corporate leadership by encouraging associates and managers to serve as good community members, establishing relationships with key individuals or groups, presenting the company’s perspective to external organizations, following media guidelines, and championing company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts.
  • Drives the financial performance of the facility by ensuring sales and profit goals are achieved, maintaining a strategic, holistic, and analytical business perspective, anticipating and accounting for key performance indicators, executing process improvements and productivity tools, leading the management team in controlling expenses indexed to sales, interfacing with market teams to drive margins and increase sales, developing and implementing plans to correct deficiencies, overseeing budget creation, and analyzing economic trends and community needs for forecasting.
  • Models, enforces, and provides direction on proper customer service approaches to ensure customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved within company guidelines and standards.
  • Drives sales by accounting for multiple dynamic indicators such as external environment, merchandising, customer and associate base, replenishment, sales windows, merchandise presentation including pricing, signing, and in-stock levels, budgeting and forecasting, and assessing economic trends and community needs.
  • Ensures the success of the Academy training environment and store standards by meeting store requirements, creating an engaging environment, integrating Academy associates in leadership and store meetings, engaging trainees during store assignments, acting as a culture champion, maintaining high customer service, serving as a visible operations champion, welcoming new trainee groups, speaking on relevant business experience, acting as an Academy advocate, and participating in talent planning and succession planning.
  • Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs, developing and implementing strategies and practices, analyzing costs and forecasts, determining resource requirements, evaluating operational processes, measuring outcomes, identifying improvement opportunities, promoting a customer-focused environment, and sponsoring continuous learning.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps, recruiting, selecting, and developing talent, supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning, and leveraging capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into programs and practices, developing consequences for violations, and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships to maximize business goals by sponsoring and leading community outreach initiatives, engaging stakeholders in business plan development and execution, and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
  • Builds high-performing teams, embraces differences, creates a workplace of belonging, and provides opportunities for associates to thrive and perform.
  • Works collaboratively, builds strong relationships, communicates with impact and positivity, and motivates and influences others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of general management experience, including financial accountability and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and at least 5 exempt associates/employees, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination; OR
  • 4 years of general management experience, including financial accountability and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and at least 5 exempt associates/employees, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination.
  • For facilities that sell firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training is required.
  • For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
  • Associates must successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 – $170,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location and Complex Structure based on external factors. Washington State: Differential to meet legislative requirements: Store Manager – $5,000 (Annually).
