About the role
Develops, communicates, and leverages a strategic vision aligned with company, market, and local plans to direct the management team and hourly associates in facility operations, merchandising, and company direction.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for management and hourly associates in a facility that may present challenges such as high turnover, significant engagement issues, inexperienced associates, and recruiting difficulties in a competitive market. Responsibilities include ongoing recruitment, hiring, training, mentoring, succession planning, duty assignment, performance evaluation, recognition, and fostering a belonging mindset across multiple organizational levels.
Responsibilities
- Upholds the company’s Open Door Policy by meeting with associates, listening to concerns, researching issues, leveraging resources for complex requests, reviewing policies, ensuring consistency in responsiveness and resolution, and proactively seeking associate feedback.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures by anticipating and responding to compliance issues, navigating challenging regulatory environments, developing relationships with federal, state, and local officials, holding associates and managers accountable, analyzing reports, implementing asset protection and safety controls, maintaining quality assurance standards, overseeing safety reviews, and correcting deficiencies.
- Initiates, directs, and participates in community outreach programs in high-visibility environments, engaging with media, establishing relationships with key community individuals or groups, presenting the company’s perspective, and championing company-sponsored programs and sustainability efforts.
- Drives financial performance by achieving sales and profit goals, maintaining a strategic business perspective, executing process improvements, controlling expenses, interfacing with market teams to drive margins, and developing plans to correct financial deficiencies.
- Models and enforces customer service standards to ensure customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved within company guidelines.
- Drives sales by accounting for dynamic indicators such as external environment, merchandising, customer base, replenishment, and sales windows, ensuring effective merchandise presentation, accurate pricing, proper signing, and inventory management.
- Ensures the success of the Academy training environment by meeting store requirements, creating an engaging culture, integrating Academy associates into leadership activities, providing job shadowing opportunities, maintaining high customer service standards, and participating in talent planning and succession planning.
- Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives, developing and implementing strategies, determining resource requirements, evaluating processes, measuring outcomes, and promoting adaptability and continuous learning.
- Develops and implements strategies to attract and retain a skilled workforce, including diagnosing capability gaps, recruiting, selecting, and developing talent, supporting mentorship, and leveraging existing talent.
- Cultivates an environment of integrity and ethics by integrating company values into programs, developing consequences for noncompliance, and supporting the Open Door Policy.
- Develops internal and external partnerships to maximize business goals through community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and supporting associate efforts.
- Builds high-performing teams by embracing diversity, fostering a culture of belonging, and creating opportunities for associates to thrive.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of general management experience, including financial accountability, and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and 5 exempt associates (performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination); OR
- 4 years of general management experience, including financial accountability, and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and 5 exempt associates (performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination).
- For facilities that sell firearms: successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
- For facilities that sell only ammunition: may require a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility.
- Associates must successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy training).

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $170,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and may include:
- Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) adjustments based on location.
- Complex Structure adjustments for external challenges.
- State Pay Differential to meet legislative requirements (where applicable).
