About the role
Develops, communicates, and leverages a strategic vision aligned with company market and local plans to direct the management team and hourly associates in facility operations, merchandising, and company direction.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for management and hourly associates in a facility that may present challenges such as high turnover, significant engagement issues, inexperienced associates, and recruiting difficulties in a competitive market. This includes ongoing recruitment, hiring, training, mentoring, succession planning, duty assignment, performance evaluation, recognition, and fostering a belonging mindset across multiple organizational levels.
Responsibilities
- Upholds the company’s Open Door Policy by meeting with associates, listening to concerns, researching issues, leveraging resources for complex requests, reviewing policies, ensuring consistency in responsiveness and resolution, and proactively seeking associate feedback.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures by anticipating and responding to compliance issues, navigating challenging regulatory environments, developing relationships with officials, holding associates accountable, analyzing reports, implementing asset protection and safety controls, maintaining quality assurance standards, and correcting deficiencies.
- Initiates, directs, and participates in community outreach programs in high-visibility environments, engaging with media, establishing community relationships, presenting the company’s perspective, and championing sustainability efforts.
- Drives financial performance by achieving sales and profit goals, controlling expenses, interfacing with market teams to increase margins, developing budgets, and analyzing economic trends for forecasting.
- Models and enforces customer service standards to ensure customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved within company guidelines.
- Drives sales by accounting for dynamic indicators such as merchandising, customer base, replenishment, and sales windows, ensuring effective merchandise presentation, accurate pricing, proper signing, and inventory management.
- Ensures the success of the Academy training environment by meeting store standards, creating an engaging culture, integrating trainees into leadership activities, providing job shadowing opportunities, and maintaining high customer service levels.
- Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives, developing strategies, determining resource requirements, evaluating processes, and promoting adaptability and continuous learning.
- Develops and implements strategies to attract and retain a skilled workforce, including diagnosing capability gaps, recruiting, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Cultivates an environment of integrity and ethics by integrating company values into programs and practices, developing consequences for noncompliance, and supporting the Open Door Policy.
- Leverages internal and external partnerships to maximize business goals through community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and supporting associate efforts.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of general management experience, including financial accountability, and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and 5 exempt associates (performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination); OR
- 4 years of general management experience, including financial accountability, and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and 5 exempt associates (performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination).
- For facilities that sell firearms: successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
- For facilities that sell only ammunition: may require a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility.
- Associates must successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy training).

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $170,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and may include:
- Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) adjustments based on location.
- Complex Structure adjustments for external challenges.
- State Pay Differential to meet legislative requirements (where applicable).
