University Program Associate - Advanced
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Gillings Advancement offers a variety of services to facilitate the School’s research, teaching and service mission, promoting the development of public health policy, publicizing School activities and public health issues, and generating financial support from alumni, foundations, corporations and the NC Legislature. The office also coordinates special events.
Position Summary
The Development Associate’s primary role will be to provide administrative support for the Chief Development Officer/Associate Dean for Advancement at the Gillings School, including daily tasks and special projects that support fundraising efforts. The position will also assist with similar work for the school’s frontline fundraising team as needed. The position will serve as an expert for our alumni and donor constituent database (Davie). This work will include monitoring prospect activity, tracking fundraising reports, and coordinating prospect research and management activities with University Development. The position will conduct basic prospect research and coordinate portfolio reviews. The position will also assist with special projects, such as collaborating on alumni and donor cultivation and stewardship events. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for the Chief Development Officer/Associate Dean for Advancement. It interacts with high-level alumni and donors, as well as faculty, staff, and students. It will also welcome visitors to the office and monitor the SPH Advancement phone line and email inbox. The position will also assist with scheduling meetings and making travel arrangements for the Chief Development Officer/Associate Dean for Advancement and frontline fundraisers as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
