Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise the Resident Assistants which includes bi-weekly individual meetings, weekly all staff meetings, annual onboarding (August/opening training) and ongoing training and development.
- Supervise Resident Assistant Staff Liaisons which includes weekly meetings and on-going training and development.
- Assist in implementing and executing the comprehensive X-Factor student leader hiring process which serves to recruit Resident Assistants and RHA Executive Board.
- Advise the Residence Hall Association (RHA).
- Responsible for awareness and application of all University Housing policies and procedures in day-to-day functions.
- Utilize eRezLife portal to manage housing functions which include but are not limited to lock-out notices, guest registration, break accommodations, room changes, and maintenance requests.
- Maintain and monitor service request logs through job completion or escalation for resolution.
- Manage hospitality for the annual opening and closing of the housing system to include the recruitment, selection and training of a student volunteer move-in-crew and closing campaigns to students.
- Together with the Director of University Housing, assess needs of residents and program effectiveness to provide diversified community living experiences that promote learning.
- Collaborate with campus partners to provide and support a robust program of student-centered co-curricular activities that enhance campus life for a diverse student population which include, but are not limited to, Saturday Night Vibes, Homecoming, Late Nite at SXU, and alcohol and other drug education programs.
- Coordinate with Facilities Management, Public Safety, Auxiliary Services, and other Student Support departments to provide exceptional service to students.
- Demonstrate creativity, a strong work ethic, and collaborative energy to address campus and community-wide issues.
- Work with individual students, as well as groups, to provide resources, referrals, mentorship, crisis intervention, and general guidance as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1-2 years of full-time experience within student housing required.
- Programmatic, supervisory experience or demonstrated student organizational leadership experience preferred.
- Flexible, adaptable, passion for thinking boldly with a commitment to serving diverse student populations.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of human and student development, group dynamics, personal computer proficiency, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
