About the role
We are a health system that believes wellness and sickness are part of a lifelong partnership, and that everyone could use an expert guide. This position coordinates patient activities on a nursing or procedural unit, including service excellence, equipment/supply management, and tasks to promote throughput. This role may also perform department support duties such as timekeeping, schedule entry, data collection, and charge reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- 40% - Service Excellence
- Anticipates needs of patient/family and internal customers, proactively addressing needs, including wheelchair discharges, rounding (environmental, nutrition, safety, and service), and cleaning unit work areas.
- Assists public and professional staff as necessary, including wayfinding.
- Relays information to unit associates as appropriate.
- Acts as liaison between unit and ancillary departments.
- 20% - Department Support Duties
- Provides support for assigned unit, including Kronos/timekeeping, point-of-care scanning, copying, entering schedules into electronic format, and tracking/entering data related to unit staffing.
- Orients new staff to unit workflow.
- Assigns staff to nurse call system.
- 15% - Throughput
- Communicates with patient care staff and other units to keep patient flow moving in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assists nursing staff with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- 15% - Equipment/Supply Management and Charge Reconciliation
- Proactively orders/maintains equipment and stock supplies.
- Coordinates identification, monitoring, and removal of all equipment to alleviate potential clutter in clinical hallways.
- Tracks orders for telemetry and enters patient data in telemetry system.
- Orders supplies for nursing units.
- Performs charge verification/reconciliation.
- Coordinates identification, inventory, and maintenance of IT equipment, including Vocera hardware, iPad for MyChart Bedside, and/or pagers.
- 10% - Additional Duties
- Performs additional duties as requested by department leadership.
- As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in performing job duties.

Requirements
- High School diploma or GED (Required).
- 16- and 17-year-old individuals without a high school diploma or GED will be considered only if they have a valid work permit.
- 18-year-old individuals enrolled in high school do not need a high school diploma, GED, or work permit to be considered.
