Unit Coordinator

About the role

This position plays a critical role in assisting with the coordination of clinical and non-clinical duties to facilitate the delivery of patient care. Responsibilities include coordinating communication and information for the Birth Center, serving as the first point of contact, and demonstrating professional interactions with patients, visitors, and staff using principles of a warm welcome—such as making eye contact, smiling, and providing a warm greeting. Additionally, this role assists registered nurses (RNs) with direct patient care by performing assigned nursing functions to maintain patient cleanliness, nutrition, comfort, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communication and information for the Birth Center.
• Serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring professional and welcoming interactions.
• Assist RNs with direct patient care, including tasks related to patient cleanliness, nutrition, comfort, and safety.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
• One year of administrative work experience.
• Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
• Current BLS Certification (must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required at time of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (preferred).
• Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) / CNA experience or medical clerical training (preferred).
• Experience working in women’s health, obstetrics, postpartum, or newborn care (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to use an electronic medical record (Epic preferred) for admissions, discharges, documentation, and care team coordination.
• Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting (preferred).
