The Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high-frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exams in allotted time.
  • Performs required daily clerical duties, including use of EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, computer systems, patient scheduling, and other systems as required.
  • Performs portable ultrasound exams.
  • Performs a variety of complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
  • Assists physicians with Ultrasound-guided interventional procedures and color-flow ultrasound as required.
  • Determines, prepares, and sets up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures, and positions patients for each anatomical view.
  • Evaluates technical quality of images. Obtains and processes images of pathogenic conditions in accordance with standard procedures or techniques.
  • Maintains records of ultrasounds taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required.
  • Calculates, compiles, and records data from numerical readings on patient's charts and related documents.
  • Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment. Stocks and replenishes supplies as required.
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.
  • Greets all patients upon arrival for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Works scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Works overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
  • Takes on-call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
  • Adheres to policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to those needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired). Communicates with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy).
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
  • Performs specific daily and monthly QA.
  • Handles other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in ultrasound (preferred).
  • Registered Vascular Technologist Certification (RVT) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification (RDMS) or Sonography Certification (ARRT, S) or Registered Vascular Specialist Certification (CCI, RVS).
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.

Pay

Minimum starting rate of $44.30 per hour. The posted rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may vary based on factors including labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding.

Eligible positions may also receive shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend shifts, as well as performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate.
