Job Responsibilities
- Sets up and adjusts ultrasound equipment for proper scans.
- Independently performs scans on patients according to protocols established by department leadership and takes call, per the department schedule for evening, night and weekend coverage.
- Uses expertise to explain procedures to patients, produce quality scans, process films and review films with medical staff.
- Reviews and evaluates ultrasound films for technical quality.
- Performs quality assurance tests and studies related to ultrasound as directed and provides input into CQI processes.
- Maintains ultrasound rooms in a clean, safe, orderly, and well-stocked condition.
- Accurately documents per established organization information management procedures.
- Performs duties of a Radiologic Technologist as licensed, needed and required.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: Graduate of an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Sanctioned School of Ultrasound or Sonography certification and graduation of an Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school of Radiology Technology.
- PREFERRED: Multiple modality certification.
Experience Requirements
- Ultrasound and/or Radiology - 6 months.
Licenses/Certifications Requirements
- Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
- American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Abdomen or Obstetrics/gynecologic or certified Education Preferred Certificate or better in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Licenses & Certifications Required: Reg Diag Med Sonog Preferred BLS- Basic Life Support
