Ultrasound Tech

About the Role

The Ultrasound Technologist uses specialized ultrasound equipment to take high-quality diagnostic images of the appropriate areas of the anatomy as requested by the physician. They follow departmental protocols for documentation, comparison, consent, and other information needed for interpretation and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and adjusts ultrasound equipment for proper scans.
• Independently performs scans on patients according to established protocols, including taking call for evening, night, and weekend coverage.
• Explains procedures to patients, produces quality scans, processes films, and reviews films with medical staff.
• Reviews and evaluates ultrasound films for technical quality.
• Performs quality assurance tests and studies related to ultrasound as directed and provides input into Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes.
• Maintains ultrasound rooms in a clean, safe, orderly, and well-stocked condition.
• Accurately documents procedures per established organization information management procedures.
• Performs duties of a Radiologic Technologist as licensed, when needed and required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) sanctioned school of Ultrasound or Sonography certification.
• Graduation from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school of Radiology Technology.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in Ultrasound and/or Radiology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• ARDMS certification in Abdomen or Obstetrics/Gynecologic (or certified education).

Preferred Qualifications

• Multiple modality certification.
• Certificate or better in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Licenses & Certifications

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) (Required).
• BLS - Basic Life Support (Required).
