About the role

Under the direction of a radiologist, this Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Assumes responsibility for tasks or procedures as assigned. Performs data entry operations using appropriate hospital software package. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations in the network.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasound techniques and examinations, including but not limited to abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts, by selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient's safety and comfort.
  • Transports patient to and from exam room/table, prepares and maintains room.
  • Acquires digital images and evaluates for technical quality.
  • Assists physician in diagnostic procedures and with administering medications.
  • Assists in coordination of daily workflow for the department’s activities.
  • Maintains equipment in efficient operating order. Performs and documents all required quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed.
  • Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates.
  • Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed.
  • Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe environment for patients and staff in assigned area. Maintains stock and inventory as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from an accredited program for diagnostic medical sonography preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • 6 months clinical ultrasound experience (inclusive of education) required.

Qualifications

  • Sonography Principles & Instrumentation - Certificate (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) eligible, including passing SPI exam (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Exam) or ARRT Sonography certification) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification (current and valid at the time of hire) required.
  • If ARRT when hired, ARDMS SPI credentialed within 180 days required.
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - License or RVT credentialed, including passing one of the following exams: Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Sonography, or Vascular Technology within 1 year (or 18 months if hired with ARRT) required.
  • Two (2) or more ARDMS specialty credentials preferred.

Pay

$10,000 sign-on bonus available.

Schedule

Night shift; 3x12-hour shifts, includes weekend rotation.
