About the role
The TWC Advocate is responsible for ensuring quality case management services to assist youth transitioning out of foster care.
Responsibilities
- Complete initial intake assessments on all new clients.
- Assess client needs and coordinate services through local resources.
- Aid clients in learning and preparing for their work environment and monitor their performance.
- Research, identify, and solicit commitments from possible employment sources through community networking.
- Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, corporate policies, and business unit procedures.
- Receive approval for all purchases from Director/Program Director.
- Turn in receipts, expense reports, sign-in sheets, and other required documentation for budget and billing in a timely manner.
- Develop training partnerships between local businesses and local training providers.
- Attend all client staffing’s, department, agency meetings, as required.
- Manage youth crisis situations.
- Aid young people in setting and achieving their leadership goals.
- Make referrals to outside agencies, as necessary, and provide follow-up.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners, including local workforce, youth, and families.
- Coordinate the use of leadership curriculum with teachers and other staff members and assist with classroom teaching of leadership skills.
- Perform post-placement and follow-up activities such as job coaching, assisting with job retention, and addressing other opportunities to pursue success.
- Conduct job site visits and home visits to ensure clients get to the job on time.
- Assist clients in identifying strengths and weaknesses to maximize job performance, perform task analysis, and teach ways to perform tasks.
- Seek and establish positive relationships with local businesses that result in training or hiring of foster youth to assist them in becoming self-sufficient, increasing self-esteem, and promoting sustainability and success.
- Attend conferences and serve on youth councils or task groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned per grant requirements.
Requirements
- Maintain certificates required for the position including but not limited to First Aid and CPR.
- Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens.
- Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
- Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years).
- Bilingual (Spanish required when applicable) English (United States).
