About the role

The TWC Advocate works with young adults and youth advocacy, ensuring quality case management services to help them achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial intake assessments on all new clients.
  • Assess client needs and coordinate services through local resources.
  • Aid clients in learning and preparing for their work environment and monitor their performance.
  • Research, identify, and solicit commitments from possible sources of employment through community networking.
  • Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, corporate policies, and business unit procedures.
  • Receive approval for all purchases from Director/Program Director.
  • Turn in receipts, expense reports, sign in sheets, and other required documentation for budget and billing in a timely manner.
  • Create training partnerships between local businesses and local training providers to train clients for productive employment.
  • Attend all client staffing’s, department, agency meetings, as required.
  • Manage youth crises.
  • Aid young people in setting and achieving their leadership goals for themselves, family, program, and their community.
  • Make referrals to outside agencies, as necessary, and provide follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with community partners, including the local workforce, youth, and families.
  • Coordinate the use of leadership curriculum with teachers and other staff members and assist with classroom teaching of leadership skills.
  • Perform post-placement and follow up activities such as job coaching, assisting with job retention, and addressing other opportunities to pursue success.
  • Conduct job site visits and home visits to ensure clients get to the job on time.
  • Aid clients in identifying strengths and weaknesses to maximize job performance, perform task analysis, break down tasks, and teach ways to perform tasks.
  • Seek and establish rapport with local businesses that result in training or hiring of foster youth to assist them in becoming self-sufficient, increasing self-esteem, and promoting sustainability and success.
  • Attend conferences and serve on youth councils or task groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned per grant requirements.

Requirements

  • Maintain certificates required for the position including but not limited to First Aid and CPR.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens.
  • Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years).
  • Bilingual (Spanish required when applicable).
