About the role
Assist students on a one-to-one and group basis with supplemental learning, keep records of ASL Lab Sessions, manage appointments, and assist with ASL Lab resources, social events, and workshops. The position is up to 26 hours per week, limited to 1040 hours in the fiscal year, and is not remote. Lab sessions are offered in-person and online via Zoom. ASL Lab specialists will receive a Zoom account linked to their TCC email. Books and materials are provided to assist students in their learning.
ASL Specialists may also assist in creating resources for the ASL lab and social events for ASL students. Specialists will be required to participate in professional training and tutor certification.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to teach and tutor American Sign Language 1 to 4.
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) Grammar/Gloss.
- Demonstrated excellent ASL and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with persons from all backgrounds.
- Demonstrated excellent understanding of Deaf Culture and its communities.
- Ability to travel between campuses when necessary.
- Experience with Zoom and similar online conferencing tools in work-related communications.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an ASL-related field (may be substituted with equivalent work experience).
- Tutoring or instruction experience in ASL.
- Demonstrated experience at the college level.
- High score on ASLPI.
