About the role

This position serves as a senior level environmental planner for the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) analysis required as part of the tug escort rulemaking. Key responsibilities include managing the SEPA process and environmental analysis for the rule, procuring and contracting for environmental elements with significant adverse impacts, conducting research, coordinating stakeholder outreach, and developing reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SEPA process and environmental analysis for the tug escort rulemaking
  • Procure and contract for environmental elements with significant adverse impacts
  • Conduct research to support SEPA analysis and contracted work
  • Coordinate stakeholder outreach and feedback related to SEPA
  • Develop reports and other documents related to SEPA
  • Gain a well-rounded understanding of SEPA process, contract and procurement process, and work closely with the Board of Pilotage Commissioners (BPC)

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental planning and policy
  • A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field
  • Experience with state environmental policies and regulations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Qualifications

The successful candidate must:

  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Be able to commute to the duty station
  • Live within a commutable distance from the duty station

Skills

Essential skills include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
