Job Summary: This position assists with CDL training by working with students on pre-trip inspections, vehicle control skills, and on-road driving in tractor-trailer commercial vehicles with manual transmissions. Trainers support program operations, reinforce safe driving practices, and help students develop into safe and successful commercial drivers.

Physical Demands: Sedentary (up to 10 lbs occasionally, sitting most of the time). Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity (e.g. computer, assembly). Work Environment: Moderate noise. Environmental Conditions: Typical office or administrative, Outdoor Weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with hands-on CDL training activities, including pre-trip inspections, vehicle control skills, on-road driving, manual transmission operation, and other program training activities as assigned.
• Reinforce safe commercial driving practices and provide students with guidance, coaching, and feedback throughout training activities.
• Promote and maintain a safe training environment by following established safety procedures, monitoring student activities, and addressing or reporting unsafe conditions and practices.
• Maintain accurate and timely student training records using program-designated electronic recordkeeping systems in accordance with FMCSA and Illinois Secretary of State requirements.
