Driver Trainer

About the role

Airgas is hiring a Driver Trainer preferably based in or near Atlanta, GA. This position offers a unique rhythm, allowing you to be in the field up to two weeks out of the month, where our Driver Trainers focus on empowering others as they advance toward their Class A and B driving experience. We are seeking a dedicated professional who is digitally proficient in tools like Gmail, Google, and Excel to support our reporting and Tenstreet operations. Your week will typically involve traveling to connect with our various locations in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. Other days are dedicated to nurturing driver skills and building alignment on safety standards. You will have the opportunity to focus on administrative projects and coordination from your home office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Road Safety partner and contributor, striving to help our logistics sites and team members advance toward safety goals together
• Help ensure that all Road Safety Program standards are implemented and sustained throughout our operations
• Invite and welcome drivers to participate in Road Safety audits, focusing on creating a supportive environment for those new to the process
• Collaborate with drivers to communicate and learn from the results of Road Safety events, alerts, and audit trends
• Curate and promote Road Safety insights on designated bulletin boards and reports to keep our community informed and connected

Required qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements
• Maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card & endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months
• Google Suite knowledge using Google Sheets and Google Docs
• Must have reliable personal vehicle to travel to assigned locations
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight at hotels to support and partner with assigned territory

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• 5+ years experience in safety & compliance
• 2 years of CDL experience
• 1 year of experience using Tenstreet
