Truck Driver Non CDL Yard Spotter

Ryder is hiring a Non-CDL Truck Driver in Wilmington, IL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about.

Pay

• About $980 or more per week
• Hourly Pay: $24.50 per hour
• 40+ hours per week
• Paid training
• Boot allowance provided

Schedule

• Monday - Friday
• Start Time: 5 PM
• Home daily

Responsibilities

• Primarily responsible for safely handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard (cannot drive on public roads)
• Compliance with safety & DOT regulations, continuous training, and customer service
• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs, including move and yard inventory records
• Other tasks as assigned

Drivers operate well-maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Must have verifiable driving experience in "like" equipment:
  • 9 months experience in the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR
  • 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
• 10 months of yard spotting experience (forklift experience is a plus)
• Must pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Must pass a DOT physical and a Yard Driver Examination
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures

Note: This position does not require the operation of CDL-regulated equipment. Candidates with a valid Commercial Driver’s License will still be subject to FMCSA requirements, including pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse query.

Ryder provides training on all equipment needed to be successful. Drivers use day cab tractors and dry van trailers (48’ or 53’). Freight involves drop-and-hook operations.
