Truck Driver CDL Class A Regional

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Detroit, MI — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about.

Pay

• Average weekly pay: $1,800
• Top earners make $2,000 per week
• Sign-on bonus: $2,000 at 30 days, $2,000 at 90 days

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• Start time: 3:00 AM to 8:00 AM
• Home daily (local) and regional with up to 3 nights out per week

About the Role

• Deliver solo to: OH, MI, IN, PA, WV, MS, AL, GA, IL, TN, AR, SC, NC, MN, Upstate NY
• Route: Local and regional
• Tractor type: Straight tanker/sleeper cab
• Trailer type: Liquid tanker (28’ & 48’)
• Freight: Touch – driver will connect hoses and pressurize trailer with assistance
• Ryder will train you on all equipment needed to be successful
• Endorsements: Tanker required, Hazmat preferred – Ryder will train and help you obtain Hazmat
• Must have passport or enhanced DL to possibly enter Canada; FAST Pass preferred
• Operate well-maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by customer
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position (Tanker required, Hazmat preferred)
• Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
  • 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
  • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
