Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Detroit, MI — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about.
Pay
- $1,800 per week average — top earners make $2,000 per week
- Paid training
- Sign-on bonus: $2,000 at 30 days, $2,000 at 90 days
Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- Start time: 3:00 AM to 8:00 AM
- Home daily (local) and regional with up to 3 nights out per week
About the role
- Deliver solo to: OH, MI, IN, PA, WV, MS, AL, GA, IL, TN, AR, SC, NC, MN, Upstate NY
- Tractor type: Straight Tanker/Sleeper Cab
- Trailer type: Liquid Tanker (28’ & 48’)
- Freight: Touch — driver will connect hoses and pressurize trailer with assistance
- Ryder will train you on all equipment needed to be successful
- Endorsements: Tanker required, Hazmat preferred — Ryder will train and help you obtain Hazmat
- Must have passport or enhanced DL to possibly enter Canada
- FAST Pass preferred
- Operate well-maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations

Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Class A CDL with verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
- 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
- 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
- 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
- Tanker endorsement required; Hazmat preferred
- Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures
- Some positions may require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Load/unload freight or assist in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
- Perform other duties as assigned
