We have a Class A Driver opening in Lafayette, IN, for New CDL Graduates who have received their CDL License.
About the role
Start your career with Ryder's Driver Development Program. This program is designed for new CDL graduates with 6-9 months of experience through our Extended Driver Development Program. The training is proficiency-based with experienced facilitators, offering 8 weeks of paid training focusing on all backing, close-quarter maneuvers, short and longer runs.

- Tractor Type: Day Cab
- Trailer Type: 53' Dry Van
- Freight Type: Auto Parts
- Touch/No Touch Freight: Varies (No Touch, Drop/Hook, Live Load/Live Unload, Multi-stop delivers, and relays)
- Deliver To: 300-mile radius
- Trucks are 36 months or newer, include 24/7 roadside maintenance
- Company drivers fuel up at over 800 maintenance facilities nationwide
Pay
- Weekly Minimum Guarantee during training: $1,050 per week
- Weekly Minimum Guarantee after training: $1,385 per week
- Opportunity for more earnings
- Paid weekly
Schedule
- Monday – Friday; some weekends required
- Start Time: AM or PM

Requirements
- 9 months or less of CDL driving experience
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a Ryder background check and Motor Vehicle Registration check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures
Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) regarding the checking in and out of freight
- Perform other duties as assigned
