Location Highlights
The 15th Judicial District covers Coos and Curry counties in southwest Oregon, offering diverse climates, ocean views, and outdoor recreation such as hiking, boating, biking, and fishing. Courthouses are located in Coquille (Coos County) and Gold Beach (Curry County).
- Coos County includes Coquille (county seat), Coos Bay, North Bend, Lakeside, Myrtle Point, Powers, and Bandon. Coquille is 22 miles from the Oregon Coast and has a rich history tied to the Coquille Native Americans.
- Curry County includes Gold Beach (county seat), Brookings, Port Orford, and Langlois. Gold Beach, located between the Pacific Ocean, Rogue River, and Siskiyou Mountains, offers a blend of solitude and adventure.
Responsibilities
- Support six trial court judges (four in Coos County, two in Curry County) and manage 44 staff (34 in Coos County, 10 in Curry County).
- Serve as the administrative authority for personnel, revenue, IT, capital asset management, and court operations.
- Ensure compliance with Oregon Revised Statutes, OJD rules, and local court rules.
- Manage all non-judicial court-related services and support programs.
- Plan, develop, and implement policies, programs, and organizational changes.
- Act as the liaison between the courts and the Office of the State Court Administrator, local bar, law enforcement, elected officials, community organizations, and the media.
- Advocate for programs, projects, and legislative actions with community and statewide partners.
- Serve as the statutory custodian of court records, files, books, and papers.
- Ensure staff have training, resources, and a positive work environment.
- Make informed decisions considering the organization’s broader goals.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in public/business administration, management, social services, human resources, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Four years of professional experience in business, public, or court administration, including two years in a court administration leadership role.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling eight years.
- A juris doctorate or advanced degree in court administration, management, or a related field may substitute for up to two years of experience.

Schedule
- Full-time, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (FLSA-exempt, no overtime).
- Periodic work during lunch hours or after-hours due to workload or meetings.
- Frequent travel between Coquille and Gold Beach (148 miles round trip). Occasional overnight travel and meetings throughout Oregon, including in inclement weather.
Working Conditions
- High-volume, fast-paced environment with statutory and policy-driven deadlines requiring quick, complex decisions.
- Frequent interaction with diverse individuals, including those who may be angry, confused, or experiencing trauma.
- Use of office equipment such as phones, OJD-assigned computers with multiple monitors, calculators, fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
