Traveling General Superintendent - Justice

Role Summary

JE Dunn, ENR's #2-ranked Contractor in Correctional Facilities Construction, seeks individuals to join its traveling family of professionals building innovative, efficient, safe, and technologically advanced courthouses and corrections facilities. The Traveling General Superintendent - Justice will lead these projects, overseeing all aspects with significant complexity.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core SUPERINTENDENT FAMILY

• Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness through individual actions and mentoring.
• Manages safety incidents and re-trains staff.
• Oversees subcontractors and organizes job and workflow.
• Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs like Safety, Quality, and EEO.
• Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
• Covers the project site and coordinates meetings like daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
• Tracks and monitors project budget and costs using project management systems.
• Communicates project information to owners, design teams, authorities, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Updates drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
• Manages material and equipment needs for the project.
• Supports MOC and DLSC procurement and approval processes.
• Selects formwork, tools, and equipment for self-perform operations.
• Manages timecard approval process for accurate hours and proper cost codes.
• Ensures quality compliance through specifications, setting standards, and using QA/QC and external resources.
• Supervises pre-punch activities and coordinates with owners, architects, and authorities for project closeouts.
• Understands and applies project pursuit processes and methodologies.
• Participates in project pre-plans, monitors, and adjusts schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
• Partners with field leadership to establish staffing for projects and identify schedule and cost changes.
• Participates in change negotiation processes with owners and architects.
• Supports project review meetings and buy-out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
• Identifies and recruits top talent.
• Builds and supports a culture of diversity and inclusion.
• Applies Lean principles to projects.
• Manages budgets, maximizes profitability, and generates future work through relationships.
• Understands organizational structure and available resources.
• Manages document changes and their impact on the project schedule.
• Understands layout skills and productivity rates.
• Builds relationships and collaborates within teams, both internally and externally.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 12+ years construction experience.
• 10+ years field supervision experience.
• Experience leading Lean principles on projects (preferred).
• Demonstrated success in executing multiple large or complex Justice/Corrections construction projects and/or leading multiple project teams (preferred).

Working Environment

A valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
